Social Security Disability Benefits

The Social Security and Supplemental Security Income disability programs provide assistance to people with disabilities. There are two types of disability benefits; Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI). If you have worked long and recently enough while paying Social Security taxes, you may be eligible for SSDI. Disabled adults and children with limited income and resources without the prior employment earnings may be eligible for SSI. Medical requirements for each program are the same. See the chart below for differences between the two disability programs.
Find out what social security benefits you may qualify for by completing this questionnaire.
Apply for SSI or SSDI disability benefits online here.
Contact Amanda Brothers, Health & Wellness Program Coordinator for assistance with applying for SSI/SSDI benefits (for both adults and children).

You may now also apply for a replacement social security card online if you live in Ohio.
